Amanda had a few years back done a short residency at an Alaskan hospital. During that time she fell in love with the wilds of Alaska and vowed to return someday. Upon becoming engaged to Adam, they quickly decided a destination wedding to Alaska was the perfect place to share their love of the outdoors as well as their love for each other with 80 of their closest friends and family.
The bridal party stayed together in a couple large vacation homes and enjoyed pre-wedding parties at The Girdwood Brewery and The Sitzmark.
On the wedding day, Erica with Erica Rose Photography took the couple out hiking in the Girdwood and Bird Point area. The couple choose to do a first look, just the two of them and then the bridal party joined them for additional photos out and around.
The wedding was at Crow Creek Mine, with the ceremony up in the woods.
After the ceremony, guests were directed back down to the wedding reception tent, where they enjoyed a "Treat Yo Self" dessert bar and gorgeous jewel toned details.
Often when we do weddings out at Crow Creek, couples choose to use white table clothes. But the tent is white and the chairs are white and the gravel is light grey.
I was thrilled when Amanda was open to doing something out of the ordinary to help her beautiful jewel toned decor pop. During the design process we must have looked at 100s of options, but in the end the charcoal table clothes was the prefect backdrop for this design.
We brought out our rustic whiskey barrel bar and used crates for bar service to hide all of their extra bottles.
We then had a cigar bar for the groom (it was also his birthday) hidden around the back side of the bar. Later that evening, it was easy to bring out the surprise and nearly all the guests (even grandmas) partook.
The sweet heart table was probably my most favorite element. We filled the tent above them with a 20' greenery chandelier with glass orbs and tea lights sparkling above them.

MEET REBECCA
Hey there! I am Rebecca Kopperud, a born and bred Alaskan, as well as the owner and chief designer behind
La Boum Events.
I began my career in event planning organizing conferences and meetings. In 2012 I had the opportunity to strike out on my own and start my own company. I choose the name La Boum Events because it is slang for "the party!" I was looking for a name that reflected my love of french culture, my bubbly personality and above all, my love for entertaining. La Boum Events was born and we absolutely took off planning Alaska's best weddings and celebrations.
Since then I have invited other super organizers and decorators to collaborate with me to offer spectacular event planning services throughout Alaska. Meet our team on our ABOUT page.
