Leif was born and raised in Homer and his beau Rob, is a swanky east coast gentleman. Together they lived in New York and loved the idea of bringing their closest friends and family to Alaska for an incredible night of entertainment.
Rob and Leif choose Chilly Root Peony Farm to showcase their "Full Buck Moon" themed wedding. The theme was very intimate to their story, and gave us a creative and masculine concept to work from.
Michelle the owner of the peony farm was the talented florist.
Every single detail was considered for this wedding. The guests were treated with care and attention. A beautiful trolley went around to all of the local hotels and a few Airbnbs to pick up guests. Guests were then treated to snacks and mini bottles of champagne on the bus ride to the venue, so when they arrived they were refreshed and ready to celebrate.
Upon arriving at the property, guests were provided with an assortment of bug spay (choice of locally made and all natural, as well as deet spray). They were also given cozy blankets to snuggle into to ward off the chilly Homer sea air.
The blankets were personalized with a patch that was personally made for the couple by Bret the mastermind behind Hulin Designs.
The ceremony was deeply personal with many creative and spiritual elements. The officiant began by ringing a singing bowl to call the guests into a place of preparedness and then spoke words of encouragement and love over the couple. Rob and Leif closed out the ceremony by striking a gong that was built into their wedding arch.
After the ceremony, guests were invited to a cocktail hour where they enjoyed a raw oyster bar as well as drinks at the Waxing Gibbous bar, a moon themed bar with assorted speciality cocktails based on the "something old, something new, something blue" poem.
After cocktail hour, guests were invited down to the reception tent on the edge of the cliff overlooking Kachemak Bay.
We incorporated many additional nods to the celestial in the decorations. Since I always love when things are stylish and practical, one my favorite elements of the evening was the seating arrangement. The escort cards were small wooden coasters. The tables were labeled according to the phases of the moon, and were actually hand scribed to look like the particular moon phase for which it was named. Each table had its moon phase hanging from the ceiling.
Since space was a real premium, food was served on these elevated platforms to allow more table space, and the floral centerpieces were hung from the ceiling over each table.
Instead of a cake, guests enjoyed a dessert bar.
Michelle and her husband came up with this beautiful and clever way to create an allusion of a fence along the cliff to discourage drunk guests away from the edge, without compromising on style.
What is a moon themed event without telescopes to view the heavens?
Then of course it was drinking and dancing!
And a sparkler send off!

"Everything was totally amazing from decor, layout, food, creativity, ceremony, aesthetics, etc. Every single guest has said multiple times to us that it was the most spectacular and unique wedding they have ever been to and I know they aren't blowing smoke up our you-know-whats.
More importantly than what our guests thought, we thought it was so romantically beautiful and captured us and our relationship. We both agree our wedding was the best day of our lives. We cannot thank you enough for your attention to detail, hard work, creativity and thoughtfulness throughout the process. Hats off to you for an amazing job. You have truly found your niche and you do it well."

MEET REBECCA
Hey there! I am Rebecca, I was born and raised in Alaska. I have always been a party planner at heart, even from childhood. In 2012, after some soul searching I realized my life long dream by founding La Boum Events. For me it is the perfect balance of my desire to be a working artist and my get-shit-done approach to life. I have a quick brain, I am great with details, I love a challenge and approach problem solving with a flexible attitude... it was a perfect fit.
I specialize in one-of-a-kind weddings, inspired by the love stories and adventures of our incredible couples. Personally, I love working with joyful, adventurous, fun-seeking couples who want to create an incredible Alaskan experience for their big celebration.
When I am not working, I love to slow down and enjoy the simple Alaska life with my husband and kids. I am savoring the slow process of renovating an old farm house, running an urban homestead, and making wine.
